‘Ladke Paagal Ho Rahe Hain’, Says Gautam Gambhir While Interrupting Chandrakanth Pandit During KKR’s Locker Room Celebrations : WATCH

Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Gautam Gambhir showcased his humorous side during the team’s locker room celebrations. Kolkata recorded a historic victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

They beat the Pat Cummins-led side by eight wickets in the final to bag a third crown. After the win, the team gathered in their locker room for head coach Chandrakant Pandit’s customary post-match speech.

While the Indian ex-cricketer was speaking, Gambhir interrupted him and suggested that the team was getting restless as they wanted to dance on the big occasion. “Ladke paagal ho rahe hain dance karne ke liye [the boys are going crazy as they want to dance],” the mentor was heard saying in a fan-uploaded video on X.

Fans have now reacted to the uncharacteristic moment from Gautam Gambhir with many of them suggesting that the mentor should now become the national team’s coach. I think GG will go for Indian post rather than being with KKR. Let’s wait and watch.”

Another joked about how Gambhir and company made the coach trim his speech, “They made Chandy sir trim his speech and cheered the loudest when he said thank you.”

One fan joked that the franchise must have printed the IPL champions’ jersey before winning the tournament. “They printed dis t-shirts from before itself I guess,” he wrote

More clips from the same locker room celebrations are now surfacing on X. In one of the videos, Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan also shared a few words talking about his side’s historic campaign.

He then made a hilarious request of wanting to see the club’s mentor Gautam Gambhir dance on the historic night. The Bollywood actor joked how he had already seen Sunil Narine perform some moves after the win and now it was the ex-skipper’s turn. “Maybe we can make him [Gambhir] dance. Sunil has already crossed that…I saw Sunil dance. So we have to make GG dance tonight,” Shah Rukh said. The hilarious request broke a nervous smile on Gambhir’s face adding to the locker room humour.

The Kolkata Knight Riders were unstoppable last weekend as they put up one of the most one-sided thumpings in an IPL final in 2024. Kolkata have been consistent with the ball all season long and nothing changed in the tournament’s ultimate game. The trio of Mitchell Starc, Varun Chakravarthy and Andre Russell put up some brilliant individual performances to curb the Sunrisers at 113. Venkatesh Iyer sped up Kolkata’s chase in the second half by scoring a lightning-fast fifty. His heroics saw Kolkata clinch the trophy within just 10.3 overs.
