Team India inched closer to the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final as after defeating Bangladesh by 50 runs in its second Super 8 fixture in Kingston on Saturday. Hardik Pandya produced an all-round show while Kuldeep Yadav foxed Bangladesh batters with his guile as India remained undefeated in the ongoing tournament.

Pandya was the show-stopper but Virat Kohli’s jovial mood also hogged the limelight at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. From grooving to the Caribbean music played by the DJ to sharing a laugh with the on-field umpires, Kohli seemed to be enjoying the vibe. He didn’t even hesitate to roll himself under the stage, made for the cheerleaders, near the boundary to take the ball out.

The incident happened in the 18^th over when Rishad Hossain smashed Arshdeep Singh’s off-cutter over deep mid-wicket for a big six. It went straight under the stage after landing outside the boundary. Kohli came rushing after the ball, rolled under and pulled it out

Earlier, Kohli found much-needed rhythm before Shivam Dube and Hardik pushed India to 196 for five, the highest total at this venue so far. Bangladesh could never really challenge India in the steep run-chase and ended up with 146/8 in 20 overs, their second straight loss in the Super 8s.

Kuldeep (3/19), who got his opportunity in the Caribbean leg of the competition, made the Bangladesh batters look clueless with the effective use of googly and stock ball. Bumrah (2/13 in four) produced a frugal effort as usual.

India will meet their match in Australia, the two unbeaten teams so far, in their final Super 8 fixture in St Lucia on Monday.
