The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced the dates for the 2025 World Test Championship (WTC) final, which will be held at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. The much-anticipated match is scheduled to take place from June 11 to June 15, with June 16 designated as a reserve day if needed.
This marks the first time Lord’s will host the WTC final, following the inaugural events at The Oval in 2021 and 2023, where New Zealand and Australia emerged as champions, respectively.
The final will feature the top two teams from the current WTC standings. As of now, India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, is leading the pack, with reigning champions Australia close behind. However, with several points still up for grabs, teams like New Zealand (third), England (fourth), Sri Lanka (fifth), South Africa (sixth), and Bangladesh (seventh) remain in strong contention for a spot in the final.
“The ICC World Test Championship Final has quickly become one of the most anticipated events in the cricketing calendar, and we are pleased to announce the dates for the 2025 edition,” ICC CEO Geoff Allardice stated.
“It’s a testament to the enduring appeal of Test cricket, which continues to captivate fans around the world. Tickets will be in high demand, so I would encourage fans to register their interest now to ensure they have a chance to attend the Ultimate Test next year.”
Fans eager to witness this historic event can now register their interest in purchasing tickets. Allardice expressed confidence in the high demand for tickets, given the growing anticipation surrounding the WTC final.
