While the batting has mostly taken the spotlight when it comes to the Indian team over the years, there seems to be a rise in the quality of bowlers that has been produced in recent years and Piyush Chawla believes that Men in Blue have the most complete bowling units in the world.
Speaking on the Caught and Bowled show airing on Disney+ Hotstar, the former India leg-spinner reflected on how the bowling unit has improved over the years to the country now boasting one of the best bowling attacks in the world.
“Since the past few years, India’s bowling attack has truly transformed. We now have one of the most complete and formidable bowling units in the world that has provided balance to the side allowing the batsmen with more freedom to play their natural game. In the game against Pakistan, our batting collapsed and it was our bowlers who got them over the line,” Piyush Chawla said.

In the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, it is the bowlers that have been doing the heavy lifting with the likes of Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh being the leading wicket-takers for the side that has easily made it past the group stages of the T20 World Cup 2024.
Jasprit Bumrah might not be on top of the wicket-taking charts, but the pacer has still been very impactful considering that most batters look to play out his overs rather than go on the offensive.
“There have been many such occasions where our bowlers stepped up and contributed more than our batters. With the lethal pace quad of Jasprit Bumrah-Mohammad Siraj-Hardik Pandya-Arshdeep Singh and top-notch spinners like Kuldeep Yadav -Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel, this is surely one of the all-time great bowling attacks of India.”
