A vintage MS Dhoni turned back the clock on Sunday night and entertained the crowd at the ACA-VDA Cricket Stadium when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were chasing 192 against Delhi Capitals. The former CSK skipper had walked out for the first time this season and went off the mark with a boundary off the very first ball. His presence filled the CSK fans with hopes of a third consecutive win this season but the game had gone far away from CSK’s grip.

With 42 required off the last 6 balls, Dhoni couldn’t turn the fortunes but his strokeplay made the fans forget about the 20-run loss. He showcased some insane power-hitting, scoring at a strike rate of over 231 in an explosive cameo of 36 runs off just 17 balls.

The CSK had lost the game but Dhoni’s aura had taken over the venue. He spoke with several youngsters from the Delhi Capitals camp as the fresh faces tried picking the legendary wicketkeeper-batter’s brain.
But amid the meeting and greeting, Dhoni was visibly limping while wearing an icepack on his leg which has sparked a concern among his fans. Several pictures and a video have gone viral on social media in which the former CSK captain could be seen in discomfort as he walked down to click a picture with ground staff.

Since the defending champions will now play their next game against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Uppal Stadium on April 5, Dhoni will have ample time to rest and get his leg healed before heading back into action. Following Sunday’s defeat, they slipped to the second spot on the points table with 4 points and a Net Run Rate of +0.976. The Kolkata Knight Riders are currently placed on the top of the tally with as many points but a better NRR of +1.047.
