It was a special occasion for the CSK fans, who were witness to a vintage Dhoni innings.
The former CSK captain didn’t have the opportunity to bat in the first two games of this season at Chepauk. The much-awaited moment finally came in CSK’s first away game where DC ultimately secured a 20-run win.

Despite it being the home match for DC, many fans were present in Vizag to show their support for the visitors.
The hosts might have mostly dominated the proceedings but Dhoni gave CSK faithful a reason to smile with a blazing cameo towards the end. He came in to bat at a time when his team needed 72 runs off the final 17 deliveries.
Though it was a difficult task to complete the chase, the 42-year-old tried reducing the defeat margin considering the net run-rate factor that may come into play later on.
Taking fans down the memory lane, Dhoni created havoc with his big-hitting prowess.
He whacked four fours and three sixes to register an unbeaten 37 off 16 balls. He also finished the game in his iconic style, sending a low-full toss off Anrich Nortje out of the park for a huge six.
In the chase of 192, CSK lost both their openers to Khaleel Ahmad early in the powerplay. Ajinkya Rahane then played a quickfire 45-run knock while Daryl Mitchell supported him well with a composed 34.
Following their dismissals, no CSK batter was able to spend a significant time at the crease.
