'Only Player Who's Given me Sleepless Nights': Gautam Gambhir Reveals Who He Feared Most During His IPL Career - WATCH
Two-time IPL-winning skipper and now mentor of the KKR franchise, Gautam Gambhir revealed who was the one player that gave him the most sleepless nights.

Kolkata Knight Rider’s two-time title-winning captain, Gautam Gambhir has shared who he feared the most when playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Gambhir had won the title for the franchise in the 2012 and 2014 seasons marking the most successful period for the Shah Rukh Khan-owned team.

He has now returned to the side in a new role as the mentor for the side. In an interview with Star Sports, the former India opener shared who had given him the most sleepless nights.

Gambhir boldly stated that he did not fear IPL legends like Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers who have been known to be extremely dangerous with the bat.

“The only player who’s given me sleepless nights. Not Chris Gayle, not AB de Villiers, only Rohit Sharma has given me sleepless nights in the IPL,” revealed the former skipper.

The former India opener mentioned that he had to have multiple plans in place just to keep the current India skipper in check.

“With Rohit, I knew that I had to have Plan A, Plan B, and probably Plan C as well because if Rohit is in, I don’t think anyone can control him,” added Gambhir.

The current mentor of KKR shared, “There have been times when I’ve seen the visuals, where I said fair enough, plan A is fine. But with Rohit Sharma, probably one night before, I used to think if this doesn’t work, I have to get this. If this doesn’t work, I have to get the other plan.“

“If Sunil (Narine) bowls his four overs, who is going to bowl the next 16? And if I finish off Sunil early and if Rohit is there, he can hit 30 off one over as well. Rohit is the only batter I was scared of as an IPL captain,” Gambhir heaped praise on Rohit Sharma’s ability,” he added

With the return of Gambhir to KKR, the franchise will hope that he will be able to lead the side once again, albeit in a different role but bring back the success that the team has been vying for since their last title win in 2014.
