'Teri Surgery Ka Mai Dekh Lunga': Pitch Invader Reveals How His 21 Seconds With MS Dhoni Might've Saved His Life

Over the years, many fans have invaded the pitch to meet the legendary MS Dhoni. In this season’s IPL, Jaykumar Jani, a YouTube content creator, broke the security cordon at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad during the match between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans to meet the iconic former India captain.

When Dhoni arrived at the crease in the final over of CSK’s innings, a fan was spotted rushing into the ground. Initially, Dhoni, in a playful manner, tried to run away from him. The fan did manage to fulfil his dream as he bowed down to touch MS Dhoni’s feet. The duo also shared a warm hug.

The moment was captured on the broadcaster’s camera and quickly went viral. Jaykumar has now shared the experience of those “21 seconds” during a conversation with Focussed Indian, a YouTube channel.

According to him, Dhoni tried his best to save him from the ire of the security officials, who were in a hurry to take him away. The former CSK skipper also asked his bouncers not to misbehave with the fan and to take him out safely.

“When I saw him, I tried to surrender. I raised my hand in delight and chased him. Mahi bhai said ‘I am trying to have fun here’. I went mad. I touched his feet. He is a legend, I had tears in my eyes. He asked me why I was breathing heavily. I had jumped the fence, ran onto the pitch and was breathing heavily,” the fan was heard saying in a video on X (formerly Twitter).

Jaykumar told MS Dhoni about his breathing issues and an impending surgery. In response, Dhoni once again proved his humility, saying, “I will take care of your surgery. Don’t worry. I will not let anything happen to you.”

Jaykumar Jani had to face consequences due to the pitch invasion. He was arrested by the police under Section 447 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for criminal trespass.

As far as MS Dhoni’s IPL career is concerned, the 42-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has yet to make the final decision about his retirement from the franchise competition. As per reports, Dhoni will visit London soon for the surgery of his muscle injury that he carried throughout the 2024 IPL season.
