One of the first Test bowlers England has produced, Stuart Broad has shared his opinions on the all-rounder Ben Stokes opting to miss out on the upcoming T20 World Cup where the English side will look to defend their title in the West Indies and the United States of America which starts in June 2024.
The England Test captain is now fully focused on getting fully fit to bowl not only for the summer of Test cricket but for all cricket in the future.
Broad has gone on to back the decision but expressed that there is one big element that Stokes provides that the side could miss coming into the marquee T20I tournament.

“Whatever Ben decides to do for the well-being of himself is the right decision. Ben Stokes has made some incredible decisions in his career that have paid off for him,” Broad told PTI.
The former English pacer also backed Stokes’ decision to opt-out and considers it the best choice for the all-rounder to be able to get some work done on returning to the all-rounder he has been for the national side for quite some time now.
“He wants to get back to (being) the all-rounder that he was and he feels like getting some workload through the knee in a controlled environment, without the help of a scale to pressurise the nature of a T20 World Cup, is the best choice,” Broad added.

Broad believes that the aura Stokes provides as a leader is something that the side will find difficult to replace but has the quality they need to cover in both batting and bowling aspects.
“They’ll miss the aura and the leadership skills of Ben Stokes, but they can cover him as a player,” Broad commented.
“England, of course, will miss a player of that aura. But England have got the quality to cover that. They’ve got the batting line-up that’s full of hitters and they’ve got some good pace bowling options and spin bowling options,” he further added.
