Jasprit Bumrah was the man of the hour for the Indian team as they managed to clean up the English batting unit for 253 during the final session of Day 2 of the second Test in Hyderabad. The pacer finished with his best figures at home with 6/45 leaving India in front as they aim to put on a big score and level the five-match Test series 1-1.
Former Indian pacer, Zaheer Khan lauded the captaincy on display by Rohit Sharma to bring in his ace to put the new batter under pressure. Speaking to Cricbuzz, he said, ” The move to bring back Jasprit Bumrah was well-calculated. Rohit was proactive after Zak Crawley’s wicket fell and he was aware enough to know that Root had just walked in, and Ollie Pope had done the damage in the previous innings, so bring in your best bowler, create the opportunity and Bumrah reacted beautifully to that opportunity.”
The pacer had been brought into the attack in the second session. He got the ball to angle away from the right-hander which prompted an edge which was taken by the man at slips.

Bumrah had also dismissed the in-form batter, Ollie Pope who was coming in after a stellar knock of 196 in the second innings of the first Test. The pacer managed to get the scalp with a lethal yorker crashing onto the stumps.
Zaheer mentioned that Bumrah would be able to get a wicket with the older ball. He was hit for boundaries by Crawley when bowling with the new ball but mentioned the reverse swing on offer with his pace meant that he could get the breakthrough.

He concluded by saying, “The moment Bumrah started that spell, you knew that something was going to happen. The reverse swing was on offer and Bumrah – we know – what he can do once there is any swing on offer. He picked up his pace with every delivery and he was in that moment to make sure that the breakthrough happened for him and that resulted in a big wicket,” Zaheer concluded on the India captain.
At the end of Day 2, India will be the happier side having bowled out England in the first innings while maintaining a lead of 143 runs. In the final few overs of the second innings, India managed to not lose any wickets and added a lead of 28 more runs to their lead.
