Wasim Akram, the former Pakistan international, did not shy away from delivering some scathing criticisms against his team and was left frustrated by the fact that they could not chase down a run-a-ball target of 120.

Following the game, Akram gave his verdict in a segment with Star Sports, where he believes that the very same players are leading to their downfall.

“The Pakistan team don’t need any enemies, they are more than enough,” said Akram

The former Pakistan pacer was not pleased with the way that Pakistan batted and was critical of their awareness when attempting to chase down the score and Akram did not hold back his words.

He asked, “Are we supposed to spoonfeed and teach them what situational awareness is? Will Babar or the coach tell? These batters have been playing for the past 8-10 years”.

Mohammad Rizwan who was well set in his innings, got out trying to attack the Indian pacer, Jasprit Bumrah who is their go-to bowler for a breakthrough. The side could have afforded to take a more defensive approach against Bumrah and look to attack the other bowlers but they did not do so which left Akram fuming.

“Should I tell Rizwan that the main bowler has come in to take wickets, better to take some singles. After 10 overs no one hit boundaries, no one tried and we couldn’t chase down 120 also. It is an embarrassment. I want to back the Pakistan team, but this is too much,” he concluded.
