The group stages of the T20 World Cup 2024 come to an end with India’s final game against Canada being washed out due to a wet outfield. However, once the game was over, the Head coach of the Indian cricket team, made a heartwarming gesture by visiting the Canadian locker room.
Rahul Dravid made his way to the Canadian locker room and had a heartfelt message for the team as their World Cup campaign came to an end.
“Just thanks a lot. Firstly, just want to acknowledge and appreciate the fantastic contribution that you guys have made to this tournament. I think all of us recognise the struggles and the challenges that all of you have to do to be able to play this sport. It’s not easy,” he began his short speech.

He even looked back on his time when he played Scotland where he represented the nation for 11 one-day games and a tour game. He drew on those memories and reflected on the challenges that an associate nation faces when it comes to cricket.
He commented, “I understand that having played actually as a cricketer in Scotland, way back, I think in 2003, so I know what the struggle is like for an associate country”.

“So you guys, honestly are an inspiration to all of us. To show us that we love the game, truly, the kind of sacrifices, you guys are willing to make, to play this tournament”.
He concluded,” All I will say is that keep taking it forward. You guys are inspiring, not only other people but I’m sure you’re inspiring young boys and girls in your own countries”.
