Rohit Sharma had walked out for the press conference after India were bowled out for just 46 runs in the first Test of the three-match series at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
“Chalao talwaar (bring out your swords),” he had said as he sat down for the questions from the press.
On Sunday, after India lost to New Zealand by eight wickets in the opening Test in Benglauru on Sunday, commentator and broadcaster Harsha Bhogle assured him,”Yaha koi talwaar nahi chalegi (there are no swords here).

After dismissing India for their lowest home total of 46 and making 402 in reply, New Zealand bowled out Rohit Sharma’s side for 462 in the second innings to lay the platform for a 1-0 lead in the three-match series and sealed their first test win in India since 1988.
Rohit was upfront in admitting that he read the conditions wrong but having said that, he never thought India would be bowled out for 46.
“I said in my press conference that we knew it will be sticky early on but we didn’t expect to be out for 46. New Zealand bowled well and we failed to respond to that,” Rohit said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
Rohit Sharma is confident that his team will bounce back from the eight-wicket defeat against New Zealand in the opening Test by winning the next two games, just like it won four on trot against England earlier this year.
“Games like these happen. We will move forward. We lost a game against England and won four games after that. We know exactly what is needed from each one of us,” Rohit said.
