A resident of the North Pargana district of West Bengal, 23-year-old Tamali Shah cracked the UPSC civil service exam on her very first attempt. She has now been appointed as an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) Officer. After completing her schooling, she did her graduation from Kolkata in Zoology. She started preparing for the UPSC exam right after completing graduation.
Tamali Shah completed her graduation in the year 2020. Then she appeared for the UPSC IFS examination the same year. She secured the 94th rank in this examination on the very first attempt. In 2021, she became an IFS officer at the age of 23 and was allotted to the West Bengal cadre.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the UPSC Civil Service Examination (CSE) 2024 prelims notification on February 14. Interested and eligible candidates can apply for the exam on the official website at upsc.gov.in. The CSE prelims exam application process will conclude is March 5. The exam is scheduled to be held on May 26 while the mains exam will be held on October 19. To apply for the UPSC exam, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or have an equivalent qualification.
The commission has notified a total of 1056 vacancies this year. “The number of vacancies to be filled through the examination is expected to be approximately 1056 which include 40 vacancies reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability Category, i.e. 06 Vacancies for candidates of (a) blindness and low vision; 12 Vacancies for (b) deaf and hard of hearing; 09 Vacancies for (c) locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy; and 13 Vacancies for (e) multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (c) including deaf-blindness,” reads the official notice by UPSC.
