The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) is tentatively going to conduct the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025 in the first week of December as per media reports. The exam will be conducted in offline mode in a single shift from 2 pm to 4 pm. The consortium responded to a query from Careers360 by stating that CLAT 2025 will take place during the first week of December. The response in addition is said to have hinted that the application period will commence in the first or second week of July.
Law aspirants willing to apply for CLAT 2025 can do so through the official consortium’s website at consortiumofnlus.ac.in or consortiumofnlus.ac.in. It is to be noted that the Consortium is likely to release the official notification for CLAT 2025 soon, along with the exam and application process dates.
The CLAT is an annual entrance examination conducted for admission to 5-year LLB and LLM programmes at 24 participating national law universities. The exam is a gateway for admission to top law schools in the country, such as NALSAR Hyderabad, NLSIU Bangalore, NLU Jodhpur, and WBNUJS Kolkata.
CLAT 2025: Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification: Applicants who have qualified their class 12 with a minimum of 45 percent marks are eligible for CLAT UG (undergraduate), whereas candidates with at least 50 percent aggregate marks in their LLB degree are eligible for CLAT PG (postgraduate).
However, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates are given a relaxation of 5 percent in the minimum score requirements in their qualifying exam.
Age limit: There is no age limit for appearing in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025 exam.
CLAT 2025: Application Fee
General category students who are eligible to appear for CLAT 2025 will need to pay an application fee of Rs 4,000, and those belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Below Poverty Line (BPL) categories are required to pay Rs 3,500 as an application fee at the time of registration.
CLAT 2025: Exam Details
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025 exam will be administered offline in over 130 cities across the country in pen-and-paper format. The exam will consist of a total of 120 questions, covering subjects such as the English language, current affairs, including general knowledge, logical reasoning, legal reasoning, and quantitative techniques. The CLAT PG syllabus, on the other hand, comprises topics like administrative law, constitutional law, jurisprudence, the law of torts, tax law, company law, international law, etc.
