Using Remote Play
Make sure Remote Play is enabled on your PS4. In order to do so, you will need to have your PS4 activated as the primary PS4 on your account. You will also need to enable Remote Play in the Settings. Use the following steps to do so: Open the Settings menu on your PS4. Select Remote Play Connection Settings. Turn on Enable Remote Play.
Allow your PS4 to start Remote Play while in rest mode (optional). If you would like to be able to start a remote play session on your PC while your PS4 is in rest mode, you will need to allow it to wake from the network. Use the following steps to do so: Open the Settings menu on your PS4. Select Power Save Settings. Select Set Features in Rest Mode. Check Stay connected to the internet. Check Enable Turning On PS4 from Network.
Download and install the Remote Play app to your computer. The Remote Play app allows you to connect to your PS4 or PS5 console through your computer and play it remotely. Use the following steps to download and install the Remote Play app. Go to the Remote Play download site. Click Download. Click Windows or Mac. Open the installation file in your Downloads folder. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
Connect your PS5 controller to your computer. You can’t connect your PS5 controller directly to a PS4, but you can connect it to a PC or Mac. You can connect your PS5 controller to your computer using a USB-C connection or using Bluetooth. To connect your PS5 controller to your PC using a wired connection, all you need to do is connect a charging cable to your controller and plug it into a USB port on your PC. Then press the PS button. To put a PlayStation 5 DualSense controller in Bluetooth pairing mode, press and hold the PS button and the Share button at the same time. Then you can pair it to your PC or Mac using the Bluetooth menu.
Open the Remote Play app on your computer. It has a blue icon with an image that resembles a controller. Open the Remote Play icon in the Windows Start menu or the Applications folder on Mac. The first time you open the Remote Play app, you will need to sign in using the email address and password associated with your PlayStation Network account.
Select PS4. The app will search for your PS4 on the network and connect to it. This may take a few minutes. Once it connects, you will see your PS4’s screen on your computer via the app. You can use the PS5 controller to play your PS4 through the app.
Using an Adapter
Purchase a Bluetooth adapter. You can use a Bluetooth adapter to connect a PS5 controller to your PS4. The advantage to this is it will also allow you to connect your PS5 controller to other consoles, such as a PS3, or Nintendo Switch. Some Bluetooth adapters you can purchase include the MAYFLASH Magic-S Pro 2, and BIGBIG WON R100 Pro.
Connect the adapter to your PlayStation 4. You can connect it to any free USB port on your PS4.
Pair your PS5 controller with the Bluetooth adapter. Press and hold the PS and Share buttons on your PS5 controller to put it in pairing mode. Read the instructions for your Bluetooth adapter to learn how to pair a controller with it. It may connect automatically.
Use your PS5 controller with your PS4. Using the Bluetooth adapter, you can use your PS5 controller with your PS4.
Do PS4 games work on PS5?
Yes, the PS5 is backwards compatible with most PS4 games. If you are feeling nostalgic for old PS4 games, there is good news! All but a handful of PS4 games will play on a PS5. If you have a disc of the game, you can play it using the disc drive on the PS5. If you purchased the game through the PlayStation Store, you can download it to your PS5 through the PlayStation Store or your game library. To find your purchased PS4 and PS5 games on the PS5, select Game Library in the Cross-menu bar on the home screen. Select Your Collection at the top of the page. Select the game you want to download and select Download. Games labeled as “PS4 Only” in the PlayStation Store cannot be played on PS5.
Does the PlayStation 4 controller work on PS5?
You can use the PS4 DualShock controller to play PS4 games on PS5. You can connect a PS4 controller to your PS5. However, it will only work with PS4 games. You cannot use a PS4 controller to play PS5 games.
