The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission has finally released the results of the PCS 2023 examination on Tuesday, January 23. According to the released results, a total of 251 candidates have successfully cleared the examination in this session. Among them, Siddharth Gupta from Deoband has secured the first position in the state.
Having achieved the top position, Gupta is now selected for the esteemed post of Deputy Collector. Interestingly, he was initially appointed to the position of Naib Tehsildar in the state. Gupta earned the Naib Tehsildar post after passing the PCS examination in the 2022 session, where he secured the seventh position. However, he remained unsatisfied with this position and decided to continue his preparation with even more dedication.
Siddharth Gupta hails from Deoband in the Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. According to an Amar Ujala report, Gupta’s father, Rajesh Gupta, runs a grocery shop in their locality, while his mother is a homemaker. Gupta also has two sisters, one of whom works as a cardiologist in Delhi, while the other is a homemaker.
As per media reports, Gupta completed his primary schooling at Doon Valley Public School in Deoband. He holds a graduation degree in Physics with Honors from Hansraj College, Delhi University. Following his graduation, Gupta began preparing for civil services. In his first attempt in 2022, he achieved a significant score and secured the seventh rank in the state.
Reports suggest that Gupta aspired to become an officer, inspired by his father’s unfulfilled dreams. While preparing for the civil services examination, Gupta reportedly dedicated 12 to 13 hours a day to his studies. Despite securing a job on his first attempt, Gupta continued to prepare with determination and hard work to achieve even better results.
Following Siddharth Gupta, Prem Shankar Pandey from Prayagraj and Satwik Srivastav from Hardoi secured the second and third positions, respectively, in the UPPSC PCS 2023 exam.
According to a Hindustan Times report, a total of 5,65,459 candidates registered for the examination in 2023, out of which 3,45,022 applicants appeared for the preliminary examination. After the prelims, only 4,047 qualified for the Mains round. Following subsequent rounds, only 451 candidates were selected for the interview round, with 251, comprising 167 males and 84 females, completing the entire process.
