Vrindavan Woman Gets AIR 281 In UPSC Without Any Coaching

The Union Public Service Commision (UPSC) announced its results of 2023 on April 16. It is said that cracking this exam is a dream come true for many. The UPSC exams are known as the toughest in the country. To achieve this milestone, candidates take special coaching classes. Vrindavan’s Surmya achieved it differently. She cracked UPSC without any coaching. Surmya is a resident of the Kailash Nagar area of Vrindavan. She did her earlier studies in Mathura before moving to Noida for her BTech. Following the completion of her graduation degree in the year 2020, she started preparing for the civil services examinations.

In an interview with Local 18, In the earlier attempts she either failed to clear the prelims examination or failed to paSurmya mentioned that she achieved the milestone in her third attempt. ss the mains by a few marks. Despite failing two times, she did not lose her hope. On the third attempt, she secured the rank of 281. She said, “After failing for two consecutive times, everyone feels demotivated. But with the support of my family, I kept my head high and kept on trying, which helped me to achieve this today.”

When asked about her preparation, Surmya said that as the coaching institutes are very expensive she preferred to prepare on her own. She said, “I have not taken any coaching to pass this examination. I have done all my preparations at home. Today, there are several online sources, from where you can take your preparations, so I took help from those sources. I followed those sources at every stage of the examination. I also got very good mentors at every stage of the examination like Vinay Sir and Sachin Sir. They have supported me a lot.”

She said that her inspiration behind joining the civil services is her family. Surmya mentioned that her inspiration has always been her biggest grandfather, who earlier served as the Mayor of the Vrindavan Municipality. She said that her grandfather and father have been actively involved in social welfare activities which motivated her more to achieve the milestone.
