But was there any reason behind not casting her sister in Thank You For Coming considering this is her first project as a producer that doesn’t feature Sonam? “Sonam and I are such consistent partners in life that we both feel in sync even when we’re doing our own thing. To be honest, Sonam was as invested in this film as she could possibly be. She has been extremely supportive. Whenever we feel that it’s the right time and get the right project for us to work on, we always find a way to come together.”
Rhea adds, “Having said that, both of us are individuals and we like to explore doing things [separately] and that just makes us better partners, so that when we come back together, it’s even more exciting.”
Quiz her about Sonam’s reaction after watching Thank You For Coming and Rhea shares, “She loved the film. Sonam was like, ‘It’s so funny!’ I think everyone is surprised with how the second half goes because there are a lot of twists and turns in it. I feel the general reaction from my friends is something I haven’t been expecting.”
Thank You For Coming might have received extreme reactions from the audience and the critics but members from the film fraternity have heaped praises on it for its take on women’s pleasure. Rhea’s closest friends, including Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon, who are headlining her next titled The Crew, have given a shout out to the Bhumi Pednekar starrer on social media.
Overwhelmed with the love that she has received from them, Rhea says, “Everyone was really supportive, excited and hopeful about the film. It’s a very happy moment to see young girls trying to make a mark and break into the industry with new stories and concepts with a modern take. The fact that a different side of the youth is being highlighted and accepted is great.”
She continues, “There’s a fatigue that sets in from doing the same things over and over again. People really want to see new ideas and fresh takes get accepted and it has been, and that’s why everyone is so hung-ho.”
