Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah fans were left shocked earlier today when it was reported that Gurucharan Singh had gone missing. He used to play the role of Sodhi in Asit Kumarr Modi’s show but quit the sitcom in 2020.
News18 Showsha has now exclusively learnt that Gurucharan’s missing complaint has been filed in the Palam area of New Delhi. Police officials are now investigating the case and trying to trace the actor’s call records. They aim to find the person whom Singh spoke to before he went missing on April 22, 2024. However, no FIR has been filed as of now.
“Missing complaint was filed around 4 days back in Palam, South Delhi. Based on this, police are investigating the case. No FIR has been filed as of now. All investigation is being done based on the missing complaint,” a police source told us.
The insider also clarified that contrary to the rumours, Gurucharan was not spotted inside the airport but near it. “He (Gurucharan Singh Sodhi) was last spotted near Delhi airport. Police are now trying to get his call records to know who he last spoke to on call or via message,” the source added.
Earlier today, it was reported that Gurucharan’s father has filed a missing complaint which read, “My son Gurucharan Singh, Age: 50 years, had left at 8:30 am on 22nd April to go to Mumbai. He went to the airport to catch a flight. He didn’t reach Mumbai, neither has he returned home and his phone is not reachable. He is mentally stable and we had been searching for him but now he has been missing.”
Gurcharan Singh played the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi — a fun-loving man who is always in party mode and never shies away from expressing love for his wife. He was one of the popular characters on the show, and also a founding cast member. Gurcharan, however, left the show in 2013 only to return next year due to public demand. After his exit in 2020, he was replaced by actor Balwinder Singh Suri.
There were speculations that Gurucharan Singh exited the show due to delays in his payment, however, the actor had remained tight-lipped on the issue. “Hum pyaar mohabbat se aage badhna pasand karna chahte hain (I want to move forward with love and respect.). There are some other reasons I don’t want to talk about,” he had said.
Gurucharan Singh Sodhi is not the only actor who left TMKOC. Over the years, several others including Disha Vakani, Raj Anadkat, Bhavya Gandhi, Priya Ahuja Rajda, Jheel Mehta, Jennifer Mistry, Shailesh Lodha, Neha Mehta and Monika Bhadoriya also left the popular sitcom.
