Wolverhampton: David Jones and Steven Fletcher scored first-half goals Saturday in Wolverhampton Wanderers' 2-1 victory over Stoke in the Premier League.
Jones brilliantly volleyed in a free kick in the 37th minute before Fletcher turned the ball home from close range two minutes later for a goal on his Wolves debut to give the hosts a 2-0 lead at Molineux.
Stoke midfielder Abdoulaye Faye reduced the margin with a 55th-minute header.
Kenwyne Jones, who became Stoke's record signing at 8 million pounds earlier this week, hit the post early in the game but limped off injured in the 77th minute.
The Potters made life tough for Wolves in a full-blooded second half but the hosts created, and squandered, the better chances.
In the end victory was just reward for manager Mick McCarthy, whose side attacked with verve despite missing last season's top scorer Kevin Doyle through injury.
