Madrid: Gerard Pique is convinced Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas "will one day sign for Barcelona" despite their failed summer pursuit.
Fabregas, 23, seemed poised for a switch to the Emirates in the transfer window after telling manager Arsene Wenger of his desire to quit the club. In the end, the Gunners held firm and the World Cup 2010 winner committed his immediate future to the club.
Speaking to AS, Pique remained confident that the midfielder's move is inevitable.
He said: "Cesc will one day sign for Barca."
Pique also admits he is relishing the prospect of facing Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid this season.
Mourinho has been allowed to splash the cash since taking over at the Bernabeu but Pique does not believe Real will be able to reclaim the La Liga title from Pep Guardiola's side.
The Spanish defender added: "It will be fun. They are two coaches with different styles, even though Mourinho says he is an attacking coach.
