Greece striker Georgios Samaras has joined West Bromwich Albion on a two-year deal following his release by Celtic.

It will be Samaras' second spell in the Premier League after playing for Manchester City from 2006-08. He spent the last six years at Celtic.

West Brom head coach Alan Irvine says the 29-year-old Samaras "has played a lot of football at the highest levels - Champions League, European Championships and World Cups - and the feedback we've got on him . states he thrives on the big occasion."

Samaras scored the stoppage-time penalty that secured Greece a victory over Ivory Coast in the World Cup in Brazil and a place in the knockout stages for the first time in the country's history.
