London: Following a 2-2 UEFA Champions League draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in London, Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has declared that he was extremely proud of his team after what he described as the best first half performance from his side since he took control of the squad.
"It's a shame because we had the opportunity to make a huge step towards the semi-finals, but when we play teams of this level, these things happen. I'm proud of my team," Guardiola told a press conference before denying that Barca were better than Arsenal.
"We have not been, we finished 2-2, but in football it goes around, the precision in attack, defence, care, there are millions of things, so many variables, sometimes this happens.
"We've given the world a good idea of how we play. We have to recover well against this team and we need everyone in the stadium to lend a hand
"I guess people will be proud of the team. It's the best I can remember as coach. I would have liked a better result, but the result is not bad. We scored two away goals.
"I sense that the second leg will not be like today. The return leg is more complicated. You play with time. We will have to play with many factors."
