New Delhi: After securing a loan extension until the end of the season, 'Becks' wants to thrust his side into Europe and come back next season to play a role their campaign.
AC Milan midfielder David Beckham insists that he will help fire his side into next season's Champions League after securing an extension to his loan deal until June.
The Rossoneri have strengthened their grip on third place after Sunday's 3-0 win over Atalanta at the San Siro. Beckham was on hand to help his side and he is now looking to help them into Europe's greatest club competition.
"I will stay in Milan to help my team qualify for the Champions League," Beckham told Sky Sport Italia.
"It's important to get into that competition, not just for the money, but because it's in the DNA of every great club to be there.
"Milan belong in the Champions League and I hope I am here to take part in it."
Trying to secure Beckham's move until the end of season was not as easy as it promised to be, however, the England international has been left satisfied with the outcome.
"I always wanted to stay here and everyone knew that,” he stated. “There were plenty of sacrifices on my part but also from [parent club Los Angeles] Galaxy and Milan. Galaxy have been excellent as have Milan.
"It's nice to have stayed and I am happy. People always talk about the money I have earned in my career but, for me, it has always been about the football and I hope I have displayed that.
"I stayed because I am playing at one of the greatest clubs in the world, and, of course, to play in World Cup 2010."
