Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly considering a swap deal for Manchester United star Jadon Sancho. As per Italian news outlet Gazzetta, the Bianconeri are aiming to offload Federico Chiesa to facilitate Sancho’s arrival at the club. The report also states that the Englishman has already said yes to a potential move to Turin. Manchester United’s coach Erik ten Hag is currently taking his time to think about the deal. Amid the transfer rumours, one thing is certain, Juventus will not be looking to lose Chiesa for free. Having already faced a similar situation with Paulo Dybala, the club will likely put their star forward under pressure to make an early decision.
Federico Chiesa was initially expected to return to Juventus at the beginning of August but the transfer situation has made his future quite uncertain. Despite having a year left on his contract, the Italian stalwart has become more ‘distant’ from the Azzurri. Juventus signed Chiesa from Fiorentina in a deal reportedly worth €60 million. The 26-year-old arrived at the club four years ago and has regularly featured in the starting XI. After making 131 appearances and scoring 32 goals for the Old Lady, Chiesa currently finds himself at a crossroads. He must either consider lowering his salary to sign a new deal with Juventus or seek his fortune elsewhere. In a third scenario, we could also see Chiesa stiffen and decide to remain with Juventus until 2025 with the prospect of a higher salary.
Federico Chiesa has not given any response on the situation, neither to Juventus nor other clubs. The Italian is currently focused on his wedding which is scheduled to take place later this month on July 20. Hence, he has asked for more time to think about his future.
As for Jadon Sancho, the English youngster was initially not in the plans for Manchester United. However, it was revealed on July 12 that Sancho had resolved his differences with the Red Devils coach Erik ten Hag. They reportedly met at the club’s training ground following which Sancho resumed training with the first team after a 10-month absence.
Jadon Sancho had a fallout with Erik ten Hag last year in September. He was banished from the men’s first team after claiming Ten Hag had lied about the reasons for dropping him. This led to Sancho signing a with his former club Borussia Dortmund on a loan deal. He performed well in his short stint in Germany, helping the side reach their first UEFA Champions League final in 11 years. However, Dortmund just didn’t have enough resources to afford Sancho on a permanent deal.
Juventus head coach Thiago Motta reportedly has a liking for Jadon Sancho and is considering bringing the player to Italy. Given his performances last season, Sancho will likely be a fantastic addition to the Juventus squad.
