“Mo Salah! Mo Salah! Mo Salah! Running down the wing. Mo Salah la-la-la la-ahh, The Egyptian King!”
Anfield never fails to echo these same words for their Egyptian King and prime goalscorer, Mohamed Salah, every single matchday.
Well, it would only be fair to do so. Already the club’s all-time leading scorer in the PL and four all-time scorer who led them to both their inaugural Premier League trophy and yet another Champions League, Mohamed Salah entered Liverpool’s history books once again after scoring in the first half against Sparta Prague in the UEFA Europa League round of 16 second-leg tie at Anfield.
Salah scored his side’s third goal in the 10th minute. The Reds finished off Sparta Praha and have qualified for the quarters, winning the tie 11-2 on aggregate.
With his goal in the Europa League, Salah has now become the first and only Liverpool player to score 20+ goals across all competitions for the club for seven seasons straight.

Ian Rush very nearly did this, of course, but left for Juventus after six seasons of 20+ goals. His first season back saw him score just 11 times (though, he’d follow that with 28 and 30-goal campaigns).
Salah has been under the eyes of Klopp and his staff since coming back, playing only limited games and minutes.
Klopp, who continues to be completely aware of the Egyptian’s fitness, has ensured that he doesn’t rush the main man back into full-fledged action, Hence, he has been precautious and wary about utilising the winger, in order to ensure his fitness further down the line this season as the fight for the PL trophy also continues to get fiercer, with the likes of both Arsenal and Manchester City hot on each other’s heels.
Salah has netted 206 goals in 336 appearances for Liverpool. 152 of his goals have come in the Premier League. He’s scored seven goals in domestic competitions. 46 goals have come in European competitions and one in the FIFA Club World Cup. He also has served up a healthy dose of 85 assists to go with his goalscoring exploits.
Carabao Cup champions Liverpool are also currently still in the hunt for all three of the remaining trophies: FA Cup, Premier League and also the UEFA Europa League. They stand 2nd the PL table right now, tied on points with table-toppers Arsenal.
