Milan: Inter coach Claudio Ranieri hopes to witness more progress when his side host Chievo in Serie A on Sunday afternoon.

A 1-0 win over Lille in the Champions League on Tuesday night in France appears to have restored a degree of belief in Milan as the Nerazzurri moved top of Group B.

Ranieri's focus will now fall on Chievo who will arrive at San Siro boosted by their 0-0 draw with league leaders Juventus last Sunday.

"The win over Lille was important because it allowed the players to gain motivation and confidence, and now we have to continue on this path," Ranieri is quoted as saying by La Repubblica.

"We know we have a difficult match against Chievo. They are a good team who close down spaces and fight for the ball, so it will not be easy for us.

"But today is a lovely day, the sun is shining [in Milan] and we hope things brighten up for the team even more against Chievo.

"I am sure my team will be a tough opponent for anyone going forward."

Inter are currently 17th in Serie A with just four points from six matches so far this season.
