London: Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has denied the FA improper conduct charge relating to comments he made following his side's 1-0 defeat at QPR last month and has appealed the punishment, the club has revealed.
The Blues boss was critical of match referee Chris Foy and his fellow officials for their performance in the hotly-contested match at Loftus Road which saw Chelsea duo Jose Bosingwa and Didier Drogba receive their marching orders and the home side get a penalty early in the game.
The Portuguese also admitted that he had confronted the referee post-match and said: "I spoke to him at the end and I was very aggressive to him. I don't care if he's okay or not."
"I'm not happy with the difference of treatment (between the two teams). I don't think the same treatment was applied. Apart from the fourth official, the other three were led by the emotions of the crowd and couldn't deal with a game like this."
Despite being handed a misconduct charge, the former Porto boss believes he was entitled to view his post-match opinions, and has contested the FA's decision.
The statement released on the club's official website read: "With regards to the FA charge against Andre Villas-Boas for remarks he made after the QPR game, the manager is denying the charge against him and has submitted his response to the Football Association."
