Cristiano Ronaldo recently scripted a sensational record during a match against Croatia in the UEFA Nations League. Ronaldo scored a goal against Croatia. With that strike, he became the first man to achieve the milestone of 900 career goals. But even at the age of 39, the former Real Madrid and Manchester United footballer is showing no signs of slowing down. Ronaldo’s former Manchester United teammate Louis Saha talked about the Portuguese icon going on to score more than 1000 goals.

“I could wish for him to score 1000 goals or even 1100 goals because Cristiano deserves all the respect and everyone that follows the sport should want this guy to fulfil his dreams because for kids wanting to be athletes, he’s the biggest inspiration you can have. 900 goals is a massive achievement already and what he’s done is unbelievable,” Saha told Betfred.
Louis Saha also talked about the prospect of seeing Cristiano Ronaldo featuring in the final of the next edition of the FIFA World Cup, scheduled to be co-hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico in 2026.
“To Cristiano, 900 goals means a lot and every time he scores goals, it’s like he’s won the World Cup. The guy is just obsessed with contributing to his team and whatever he aims to do, he’ll do whatever he can to achieve it. If he feels as if he needs to go to the World Cup in 2026 and win it, then that’s what he’ll try and do and the tournament is not too far away,” the 46-year-old former French footballer explained.
The historic goal against Croatia marked Cristiano Ronaldo’s 131st international strike. The Al Nassr superstar scored in the 34th minute of the game as Portugal went on to clinch a 2-1 win against Croatia. Ronaldo had also become the first player to breach the 800-goal mark. He had achieved this feat late in 2021.
In his latest appearance, Cristiano Ronaldo came off the bench to earn a late equaliser for his side. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner netted a much-needed goal in the 88th minute to guide Portugal to a 2-1 win over Scotland in Sunday’s UEFA Nations League match. Portugal clawed back in the game to earn a full three points against the Scottish side. Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes scored the equaliser in the 54th minute of the game.
