New Delhi: As part of their preparation for the upcoming 2016 Olympic Games, Hockey India will evaluate the performance of the National Teams in the recently held 2015 FIH World League Semi Finals in Belgium.
A Special Committee was formed by Dr Narinder Dhruv Batra, President, Hockey India early this month to assess the performance of Men and Women Teams. The Committee is made up of eminent former Olympic players and International players and is chaired by Mr Harbinder Singh. Other Committee Members include Mr. B.P Govinda, Mr. V Baskaran, Dr. A.B Subbaiah, Mr. Thoiba Singh, Dr. R.P Singh, Ms. Asunta Lakra and Ms. Jasjeet Kaur. The meeting will be held on 24 July 2015.
The Special Committee will review the reports, relevant data etc and provide feedback and recommendations for the future course of action for the Teams in their preparation for the 2016 Olympic Games.
Speaking ahead of the meeting Mohd. Mushtaque Ahmad Secretary General, Hockey India said, “It is very essential for Hockey India to closely monitor the performance of the teams as we are gearing up for 2016 Olympics and there cannot be any leeway or scope for error now.”
The Indian Women’s team secured a 5th place finish at the World League Semi Finals and which should be sufficient for them to gain entry in the 2016 Olympic Games.
