Olive trees often have wonderfully gnarled and twisted trunks. In pencil, draw a few curves to guide the twist of the trunk.

In pencil, sketch a trunk and branches using the curves as a guide. Sketch loosely and go over lines until you are happy with the shape.

In pencil, draw the rough shape of the foliage. Olive trees have fairly rounded, regular foliage, so go with soft curves. Also sketch some rocks for the roots to grow around.

Roughly follow the foliage guides with a fine liner. Olive trees have long, pointed leaves, so use lots of pointed, angular strokes rather than lines or curves. Draw some groups of little lines within the shape too.

Go over the trunk and rocks in fine liner, adding lines for a bark texture. Because the bark is knobbly, there's no need to be precise – let your lines go wobbly!

Erase the pencil lines, and you're done! You can also add color if you want to!
