How to Drink Bacardi Limon
While it’s named after the Spanish word for lemon, Bacardi Limon is actually made with a combination of lemon, lime, and grapefruit. The citrus profile and the tropical flavor of rum work well together in a range of drinks. While you can certainly drink Bacardi Limon on its own, it is most commonly found in a rum and Coke. Since white rum is commonly used in tropical drinks, you can also use it to mix up a mojito, alcoholic lemonade, or tropical Martini.

Drinking Bacardi Limon on Its Own

Enjoy a neat pour using 2 fl oz (59 mL) of Bacardi Limon. Get a clean lowball glass and set it out on your counter. Use a jigger, or a measuring cup to measure out 2 fluid ounces (59 mL) of Bacardi Limon. Slowly pour the Bacardi Limon into your glass to avoid spills. Then, enjoy your Bacardi Limon neat. You can also measure the Bacardi by eye and simply fill the bottom 1/8 of your glass. Exact measurements aren’t as important when it comes to pouring neat pours since you aren’t mixing anything. The term “neat” is used in bartending to refer to a drink that is not mixed or poured over ice. A jigger is a bartending tool that looks like 2 cones connected to one another. The smaller cone-shaped cup is usually a 1 fl oz (30 mL) measurement, while the bigger cup is measures out 2 fl oz (59 mL). While a lowball glass is ideal for neat pours of spirits, you can use any kind of glass that you’d like. A lowball glass is also known as an Old Fashioned glass or tumbler.

Chill 2 fl oz (59 mL) of Bacardi Limon in a cocktail shaker. Get a cocktail shaker and fill it with 8-10 ice cubes. Then, pour 2 fluid ounces (59 mL) of Bacardi Limon into your cocktail shaker and twist the top on to the shaker. Vigorously shake the mixer back and forth for 5-10 seconds until the mixer is cold. Unscrew the shaker and use a strainer to pour the chilled liquor into a lowball glass to enjoy your drink.Tip: If you don’t have a cocktail shaker with a closed top, you can use a pint glass instead of the other half of a cocktail shaker. Stick the pint glass into the opening of your shaker and strike the bottom of the pint glass lightly before shaking your mixing glass. You can pour your chilled rum over ice or drink it neat.

Crafting a Classic Rum and Coke

To mix your Bacardi Limon with a citrus soda, follow these steps and replace the cola with your favorite lemon or lime soda. A highball glass is also known as a tall glass or a Collins glass. While the drink is traditionally called a rum and Coke, you can use any type of cola.

Pour 1–2 fl oz (30–59 mL) of Bacardi Limon into your glass. Measure out your rum with a jigger or measuring cup. If you want a stronger rum and Coke, pour 2 fl oz (59 mL) of rum over the ice. Using Bacardi Limon in Cocktails

Mix Bacardi Limon with mint and tonic for a tropical mojito. Cut fresh mint leaves into thirds and place them in a tall glass. Add 2 tablespoons (30 mL) of simple syrup and the juice from 1/2 of a lime. Mix the ingredients together and fill your glass with ice. Then, on top of the mixed ingredients, add 1–2 fluid ounces (30–59 mL) of Bacardi Limon and fill the rest of the glass with tonic water.Tip: You can buy premixed simple syrup, but it’s pretty easy to make on your own. All you have to do is boil sugar in an equal amount of water while mixing it together until it’s fully dissolved. If you really love the flavor of mint, crush the mint with the back of a spoon before pouring your simple syrup in.

Create a Limon lemonade to cool off on hot summer days. Mix 1 cup (240 mL) of cold water with ⁄3 cup (79 mL) of lemon juice in a highball glass. Then, add 1/4 cup of sugar (50 g) and mix the ingredients in your glass until the sugar is completely dissolved. Add 1 fluid ounce (30 mL) of Bacardi Limon and fill the glass with ice. Garnish your Limon lemonade with a lemon wedge, lime wedge, or mint leaf.

Craft a XXX Martini for a modern take on a classic drink. In a cocktail mixer, pour 1 ⁄2 fluid ounces (44 mL) of Bacardi Limon and ⁄4 fl oz (7.4 mL) of Chambord. Then, add ⁄4 fl oz (7.4 mL) of dry vermouth. Add some ice to the mixer and close the cap. Shake the cocktail mixer for 20-30 seconds, until it turns cold. Strain the mixture into a Martini glass. Garnish your XXX Martini with a raspberry or lemon rind. Chambord is a raspberry liqueur. You can replace the Chambord with any fruit-based liqueur if you prefer.

Pour a Lemon Drop shooter for a sweeter shot option. Take 1 fl oz (30 mL) of Bacardi Limon into a shot glass. Then, pour ⁄2 fl oz (15 mL) of lemon juice on top of the rum. Next, take 1 teaspoon (2.6 g) of powdered sugar and sprinkle it on top of your drink before immediately drinking it. Alternatively, you can sprinkle the powdered sugar in your mouth before immediately drinking the shooter. In bartending, a shooter refers to an alcoholic beverage that is served in a shot glass. While any straight pour of alcohol in a shot glass is technically a shooter, the term is typically reserved for mixed shots.

Create a Chaise Lounge for a fruity cocktail with a lot of flavor. In a cocktail mixer, combine ⁄4 fl oz (22 mL) of Bacardi Limon with ⁄4 fl oz (22 mL) of Malibu Rum. Pour ⁄4 fl oz (22 mL) of Crème de Banane on top of the alcohol and add 1 splash of cranberry juice, 1 splash of orange juice, and a dash of pineapple juice. Mix the ingredients with a spoon or mixing stick and pour the ingredients into a highball glass over ice. Because of its citrus ingredients, Bacardi Limon mixes incredibly well with most fruit juices. You can take any of the fruit juices out and replace them with a different flavor if you prefer.
