Microchip Location Hints
Microchip A If you don't want to spoil the location of Microchip A, use these clues to figure it out for yourself: Use the magnifying glass on page 7 of the book "A New Clue." This will show numbers by some of the words. Put the words in order to see a hint for Microchip A's location. On page 6 of "A New Clue," check the illustration. There is a piece of paper that says "Corner Cases" with some rooms listed as well. Check the rooms that have a green checkmark by their name. "A New Clue" can be purchased in the Bookshop. If you are having trouble finding Microchip A, skip ahead to follow our step-by-step instructions.
Microchip B If you don't want to spoil the location of Microchip B, use these clues to figure it out for yourself: Check page 16 of "A New Clue" and look at the illustration. Compare the grid shape drawn on that page to the blueprint of the manor, and notice which spot on the manor blueprint lines up with where the man is standing in the grid. After solving the Security Puzzle, use the surveillance videos in the Security room to find a video of the Entrance Hall. Look for any similarities between the illustration on page 16 of "A New Clue" and the video. "A New Clue" can be purchased in the Bookshop. If you are having trouble finding Microchip B, skip ahead to follow our step-by-step instructions.
Microchip C The third microchip, Microchip C, is actually located in the Blackbridge Grotto, so you don't need to go hunting for it.
Finding Microchip A
Obtain a Shovel or Jack Hammer. In order to find Microchip A, you'll need either a Shovel or Jack Hammer. Here's where you can find them: Shovels can potentially be found in the Courtyard, Greenhouse, Morning Room, Storeroom, Terrace, Toolset, Tunnel, or Workshop. Jack Hammers can be crafted in the Workshop with a Shovel, a Battery Pack, and a Broken Lever.
Go to the West Gate Path. To access the West Gate Path, you must follow these steps: Draft a Garage inside the manor. Open the garage door via the Utility Closet breaker box or the Boiler Room power. Exit the Garage via the open garage door. Interact with the gate outside the garage to open the West Gate Path.
Use the Shovel or Jack Hammer on the Dig Spot by the bridge. While you're on the West Gate Path, locate the bridge, but don't cross it. Go just to the right of the bridge, then use your Shovel or Jack Hammer on the Dig Spot by the bank of the river. This Dig Spot won't be labeled with a dirt pile. It's possible to find the Microchip without finding any of the clues. Once you dig up this Dig Spot, you'll obtain Microchip A. You can use Microchip A in Blackbridge Grotto, but there are some other uses as well.
Finding Microchip B
Obtain a Sledgehammer or Power Hammer. You can find these tools in these locations: Sledgehammers can potentially be found in the Commissary, Courtyard, Storeroom, Toolshed, Wine Cellar, and Workshop. Power Hammers can be crafted in the Workshop with a Sledgehammer, Battery Pack, and Broken Lever.
Return to the Entrance Hall. The Entrance Hall will be present in every blueprint you make, as it's the starting room.
Break the vase on the west side of the room. If you're facing the entrance doors, the vase will be on your right. Microchip B will be inside this vase. The vase on the east side of the room can also be broken, and it has nothing of importance inside. It's possible to find the Microchip without finding any of the clues. You can use Microchip B in Blackbridge Grotto, but there are some other uses as well.
Locating Blackbridge Grotto
Go to the Laboratory. Before you can begin the puzzle to find Blackbridge Grotto, you must have powered the Laboratory by connecting it to the Boiler Room or by upgrading the Aquarium to have Electric Eels, then connecting it to the Laboratory.
Find the electrical box covered in switches. It's green, and located in a corner of the room. Before the Laboratory is powered, this box is sequestered from the rest of the room by a glass panel.
Look for the empty periodic table on the wall by the box. You'll see the box has some squares that have numbers in them.
Locate the completed periodic table in the Laboratory. On another wall, you'll find a completed version of the periodic table of elements. You'll need to compare the two tables to solve this puzzle. You can either take a screenshot of both tables, or you can look at the blank periodic table and pull up the periodic table on your phone in your browser.
Complete the puzzle. To solve this puzzle, note down the two-letter code of each element that has a corresponding numbered box in the blank periodic table. If you write them down in order (starting with the box that says "1"), you'll spell out a sentence. If you're struggling or don't want to complete the puzzle on your own, the solution is "PuSHThReEuPaFTeRnINe," or "Push three up after nine."
Return to the box and flip the switches in accordance with the puzzle answer. First, flip the number 9 switch, then flip the number 3 switch.
Go to the Private Drive. This is the area outside the manor, where you can access your tent.
Locate and open the door in the rock wall. The rock wall is alongside the path that leads to the campsite, and it's just beside the Private Drive. Solving the Laboratory puzzle opens this door, which gives you permanent access to the Blackbridge Grotto. Inside Blackbridge Grotto, there are three pedestals that have slots for each microchip. Microchip C is already on the pedestal, but you'll need to place Microchips A and B yourself.
Microchip Uses
Blackbridge Grotto pedestals The main use for the Microchips is to power the Blackbridge Grotto pedestals. When you place all three Microchips on the pedestals, a door in Blackbridge Grotto opens, which gives you access to the Orindian Ruins and the Blackprint of the Throne Room. The Microchips will stay in place until they are moved. If they're moved, they'll either return to the pedestals when you call it a day, or they'll return to their original locations.
Apple Orchard sundial Once you have all three Microchips (you'll need to grab Microchip C from Blackbridge Grotto), you can place them into the sundial in the Apple Orchard. This will unlock the Satellite Dish and give you access to new experiments in the Laboratory. The Microchips will stay in place unless you put them in your inventory or move them somewhere else (unless you place them back to the Grotto pedestals, in which case they'll stay in the Grotto).
Tunnel Area sealed door The three Microchips can be used to unlock a sealed door in the Tunnel Area. Unlike the Grotto pedestals and the Orchard sundial, if you leave the Microchips in the sealed door, they will return to the Grotto at the start of the next day.
Trading You can trade the Microchips to the Trading Post for free items every day. If you trade a Microchip to the Trading Post, a new Microchip will spawn in its original location (next to the bridge for Microchip A, in the Entrance Hall vase for Microchip B, and in the Grotto pedestal for Microchip C). Since the Microchips are renewable, it's a good idea to trade them if you don't need to use them yet. They will always respawn in their original locations at the start of each day, and you'll get medium- to high-rarity items from the Trading Post for them.
