Promoting on Wattpad
Follow other writers and read their work. You'll see what others are writing and what's popular or trending. The more presence you have for those other writers, the more likely they are to read your stuff (and possibly recommend it to their followers).
Acknowledge followers. When someone follows you, send them a quick message to thank them and let them know you're a real person.
Be active. Respond to comments and suggestions so other people know you're active. The more people see that you're active, the higher your chances are that someone will go read your stories. Since the Wattpad community is highly supportive of creators, your presence will suggest you are an active part of the community.
Engage others in conversation. If you have written a story similar to another you've read, mention that. You'll not only get others to read your story, but they also might read the other stories you've posted.
Ask for advice. If you've written a story but aren't sure where to go from there, you can ask others for help.
Use short or catchy titles. Long titles are often easy to forget or get confused. Short titles tend to intrigue an audience into reading your story. If you use SEO and optimize your title, you're also increasing the chances that your story will be read.
Update your followers. If you're going on a mini-vacation, make sure you let your followers and fans know that you won't be producing content for a few days. This ensures that they don't immediately forget about you and your future work, but they aren't expecting a story update or anything to read from you in the meantime.
Remember to add a story description. This gives your readers a general idea of your story. You also have the opportunity to make this a really appealing appetizer for your story by teasing some of the story's plot twists.
Keep your stories and chapters short. You don't want to scare off potential readers by giving them a wall of text, so keep your stories or chapters short. Many readers are on phones and tablets and like to read on-the-go, so make sure you don't forget about them.
Break your stories into chapters. Since you don't want to scare off readers that are on-the-go and looking for something short to read, you should break your stories into bite-sized chapters. This also helps you keep a regular posting schedule (for example, you could post a new chapter every Monday).
End your chapters in cliff-hangers. Readers will always want to come back for more if you leave them with a cliffhanger.
Promoting on Other Platforms
Share your story outside of Wattpad. You can share your story on Facebook, for example, to entice a larger audience.
Share your story to Wattpad communities outside of Wattpad. Sites like Facebook also have groups of more active community members, so sharing your stories with them might increase your chances of getting views.
Connect your Twitter account to your Wattpad. Each time you tweet about your own or someone else's' work, you'll be promoting stories on Wattpad to all your followers.
Use hashtags in your Tweets. If you use hashtags, chances are your story will be viewed by someone searching "#wattpad life".
Email blogs you follow and ask if they will profile you and/or your work. Bloggers usually love writing about something new and different that can help readers, and they love hearing from their readers, so they might write about you and garner interest for your Wattpad stories.
Use widgets on your own site (if you have one). If you have a blog, Wattpad offers some widgets that help promote your work. You'll find these on your profile page.
