18 hurt as van overturns

SIVAKASI: Eighteen workers of a match unit, including two women, were hurt when a van belonging to the unit overturned on Monday.The van was carrying 24 workers from Koomapatti to the factory in Namaskarithanpatti. Selvakani of Namaskarithanpatti was driving the van.When the van was passing Periyakulam tank, the driver lost control of the vehicle and it fell into a roadside ditch. Eighteen persons, including Bose (25), Sappani (21), Thangam (18) and others were injured. They were all treated as outpatients in the Sivakasi government hospital. Thiruthangal police have registered a case and are looking for the driver of the van who is said to be absconding.
