250 students stranded in property dispute

CHENNAI: A dispute between an erstwhile owner of a property situated on Anna Main Road in MGR Nagar and the present lessee has left about 250 students of a centrally funded computer centre - PSS Computer Centre - high and dry.The other shop owners, who took the building on rent, were also stranded, as the erstwhile owner of the property  M George of United India Colony in Kodambakkam, has locked the gate leading to the premises.  S Lingeswaran lodged a complaint with the City Police Commissioner on May 28 last, saying that he took on the lease the building in question for consideration from one Pandurangan, who had purchased the property from George.  Lingeswaran had rented out the premises to the computer coaching centre and other persons.After the death of Pandurangan, George, claiming ownership over the property,  initiated legal proceedings and they were pending before a civil court.While so, Lingeswaran alleged that George’s supporters barged into the premises in the wee hours of May 26 last, attacked the security guard and took physical possession of the property. They also locked the main gate to the building.   According to Lingeswaran, he had moved, as early as in December 2010, a City Civil Court, which had granted an interim injunction restraining George and his men from disturbing his peaceful possession and enjoyment of the property. The stay order, granted on December 12, 2010, was extended from time to time till last month.The complaint, forwarded to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ashok Nagar, prayed for the restoration of the property back to him, besides appropriate action against George and his men. The security guard K Nandagopal (66), who allegedly sustained injuries in the attack,  has also filed a similar complaint with the MGR Nagar police.
