Five persons were killed and 15 sustained injuries in a blast in a glass factory in Ranga Reddy district of Telangana on Friday, police said. The injured were rushed to a hospital and their condition was reported to be out of danger.
According to police, a tank in the factory at Shadnagar exploded around 4.30 pm. An initial probe into the case hinted at short circuit being the reason behind the explosion.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed the revenue, police, fire department, labour, industries and medical teams to remain at the scene and intensify relief efforts in coordination.
On June 13, at least six workers including five women were killed and three injured in a blast at an explosive-manufacturing factory near Maharashtra’s Nagpur.
The incident took place at Chamundi Explosive Pvt Ltd in Dhamna village, under the jurisdiction of the Hingna police station.
“At least 5 people have died and 5 people are injured in an explosion at an explosives manufacturing factory in Dhamna. The team is about to reach the spot,” Ravinder Singal, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur, told the media.
Earlier this year in April, at least four people died and 16 others were injured in an explosion allegedly caused by a fire in a chemical factory in Telangana’s Sangareddy.
According to an ANI report, around 50 people were inside the building when the blast took place.
The deceased included the pharma firm’s director and three workers, police said.
