6 held for rowdy Velus murder

BANGALORE: S J Park police have solved the murder case of notorious rowdy M Velu (30) by arresting six persons. Rivalry between the main accused of the case Rudra alias Shiva and Velu is said to be the reason for the murder.The accused have been identified as S Gangadhar (34), V Prakash alias Dasa (23), Vijay Kumar alias Yelagalli (24), Krishna alias Loose (20), Arun Kumar alias Arul (27) and Manu alias Deepu (23). Rudra and others are still absconding and efforts are on arrest them. Velu, a resident of Ramanna Garden, was brutally hacked to death in the wee hours on November 29. Velu, who was wearing ‘Aiyappa Mala’ and on a religious practice, was attacked by a gang of ten assailants while he was returning home after attending Aiyappa Swamy prayer.According to the police, accused Rudra had allegedly killed Velu’s brother Subramani in 2005 and Velu’s father was also murdered before that. To retaliate his brother’s killing, Velu allegedly had murdered Rudra’s brother. In return Rudra was waiting for an opportunity to kill Velu and got him murdered. “Rudra is also an accused in the murder case of retired Additional Superintendent of Police and KPTCL Chief Vigilance Officer K S Thammaiah, that was reported at Anantapura gate in Yelahanka New Town police station limits in April 2009. Rudra, who is a handicap, was sent to jail in connection with that murder and he was released recently,” the police added. The accused have been taken to police custody for further investigations.
