New Delhi: An octogenarian defied his age and married his domestic help in Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.
Eighty-year-old Rakam Singh married 40-year-old Saloni in a court at Gauri Pukhta town near Muzaffarnagar despite intense opposition from his two sons.
The son’s, who are both sub-inspectors in UP police, strongly disapproved of the relationship and threw their stepmother out of the house.
Ever since the death of his wife three years back, Rakam Singh had been living alone, as his sons were posted outside the district.
Saloni, from Lakhimpur Kheri, was hired as a domestic help for Singh. But soon, they fell in love and married.
Recently the Delhi High Court gave a go ahead to a 26-year-old woman who is all set to formalise her marriage with a 74-year-old British national under the Special Marriage Act.
