BANGALORE: Nine candidates are in the fray for Gandhinagar Ward by-election scheduled to be held on February 26. The election is being held to elect a corporator for Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike. Fifteen candidates had filed nomination papers. On Friday, candidate Farooq Pasha’s nomination was rejected as he had not produced the required documents. Candidates K Shivaramanna, Mahesh Yadav, Gouse Moiddin, Govind Swamy and Shambulinge Gowda withdrew their nominations on Saturday, the last day for withdrawing the nomination papers. The nine candidates in the fray are Gopala Krishna (Indian National Congress), Ramachandra (BJP), Suresh P K (JD(S)), Ashwath Narayana (JD(U)), Yuvaraj (AIADMK) and four independent candidates - Abdul gafar, Ramesh K, Ramesh S S and Rama C B K.The by-election to Gandhinagar Ward (BBM Ward Number 94) is being held following the death of corporator S Nataraj. He was murdered in October last year.
