RAMANATHAPURAM: Nine fishermen were reportedly missing along with their two mechanised boats at mid sea and search operation is on. Sources said that 702 mechanised boats had ventured into sea for fishing on Monday and they were supposed to return the next day.Meanwhile, nine fishermen Emerson, Augustus, Wilson, Prasath, Lenglet, Kalimuthu, Rajendran, Ramalingam and Chandran of Rameswaram failed to return to shore along with their two mechanised boats.It is said, one of the two missing boats was detained by Lankan navy when it was netting near Katchativu and the five fishermen have been handed over to Delf Island (Nedunthivu) authority. However, it was not confirmed by the Fisheries Department. Moreover, a group of fishermen had set out to sea to trace them.
