MANGALORE: Owing to his negligence in handling the rape case of a minor girl, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ravindra Gadadi was relieved of his present responsibilities and deployed at the commissionerate office on special duty from Monday.Commissioner of Police Seemant Kumar Singh confirmed relieving Gadadi of ACP’s duties. “If Gadadi was keen on arresting the accused, we could have given justice to the victim. But he neglected,” he said.On February 19, around 9.30 pm, Gadadi forcibly questioned former mayor Ashraf about Vaheed, who was accused of raping a minor. When Ashraf said he had no connection with Vaheed, the ACP threatened to register a rape case against him too. “But when other Congress leaders rushed to the police station, I was released from the station,” Ashraf said. He was released after the Congress leaders held talks with the police commissioner.
