Deepa Sannidhi has invaded the hearts of Kannadigas instantaneously with her film, Sarathi, opposite Darshan, that set the box office on fire. Though Paramathma was an average hit, the actress got her due. From then on, there’s no looking back for the young actress, as she has been quietly bagging roles

back-to-back.

She has currently completed shooting for Jaanu opposite Yash, and has been signed for Shashank’s next outing, titled Bachchan — The Angry Young Man, with Kicha Sudeep in the lead.

The next in her kitty is Sakkare, opposite Golden Star Ganesh.

“Yes, I have signed the project after considering the script, which is quite inspiring and offers a lot of scope to play different shades of a character. Secondly, the team I will be working with is quite well-organised. I am teaming up with Abhay Simha, an award-winning director,” she says.

Since Bachchan got postponed, did it make way for Sakkare?

“No. I was in touch with the Sakkare team for quite some time. Since it was a single-scheduled project, I was keen to be a part of the film, after which, I’ll be starting off with Shashank’s movie,” says Deepa, adding, “Usually, I take up one project at a time and wait till its release. This is the first time I will be working back-to-back.”

Deepa has been rising steadily, with directors wanting her in their projects.

“The question why am I the directors’ choice should be routed to them. They might think I suit the role and it’s good that it’s working out well for me,” she says.

Sakkare, again showcases Deepa in shades different from her previous films.

“It’s too early to talk about the movie in detail. It’s a story about love and friendship, with a sweet message in it,” she says.

She has groomed herself to be an artiste. So does Deepa aspire to become a versatile actress?

“I’m still exploring. Right now, I’m trying to work on different roles and subjects, and explore my own strengths and weaknesses out of it. I’m yet to realise what I’m capable of. I’m aiming at projects that will help me explore and then, fetch accolades for my versatility,” she says.

Success doesn’t seem to have gone to Deepa’s head yet. And she has been working hard without making much noise, nor is she blowing her own trumpet.

“I’ve always kept to myself. This has actually inspired me to do more. There are a lot of people in the industry, who have told me to change. Even, I have asked myself sometimes whether I need to change my lifestyle having entered this field. But then, I feel uncomfortable and am still unable to sort out things in my head as to how to I should be,” explains Deepa, whose silence some view as attitude.

“It’s a mistake on their part, if they think that I have attitude just because I don’t respond. I would want to make my presence only when it’s essential. I want things to move in the same way as of now and in future, too,” she concludes.
