THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Women’s Commission is planning to conduct adalats in every taluk in the district. The taluk-wise adalats will be held after the completion of the ongoing mega adalats organised across the State. After successfully conducting the mega adalat at Thiruvananthapuram, the Women’s Commission will be organising similar adalats in Kollam on May 22 and in Pathanamthitta on May 25.The Commission settled 49 cases in the mega adalat held in the city on Wednesday. Twenty cases were sent for police inquiry, eight for RDO inquiry and six for Jagatha Samithis for further probe. It had considered as many as 224 cases. The Commission will take up the remaining 141 cases in the next adalat.A panel of advocates and officials of the Women’s Commission, including chairperson K C Rosakutty, heard the cases. K C Rosakutty said that the Commission would focus on rural areas during the next sitting. “Places such as Neyyatinkara and Chirayinkeezhu were not considered this time. Adalats will be held at every taluk next time. This will be held after the state-wide mega adalats,” she said.All types of cases such as domestic violence, disputes etc came up at Wednesday’s adalat. Social Welfare Minister M K Muneer also attended the mega adalat.
