HYDERABAD: Crime investigation department officials arrested a deputy director of agriculture for cheating people by collecting money with false promises of jobs in the department. According to additional directorgeneral of police (CID) SV Ramana Murthy, they arrested K Murali Krishna, deputy director of agriculture in Kurnool, committed the crime during his stint in Sompet division in Srikakulam district as an assistant director. promising the jobs of office assistants/attenders in the department he had collected `20,000 to `25,000 from each gullible aspirant, and collected a total amount of `5.95 lakh.
The accused cheated the victims by abusing his official position and caused wrongful loss to the victims. Based on complaints lodged by the victims, K Venugopala Naidu, CID inspector, Visakhapatnam, found out that the accused failed to provide jobs to the victims.
