Functionaries of the ruling AIADMK who have been countering the ‘pamphlet campaign’ of the DMK in various parts of the State for the past couple of days, did it in the city on Tuesday, that too in Gopalapuram areas where DMK president M Karunanidhi’s residence is located.
Led by Social Welfare Minister B Valarmathi the team of party functionaries including Chennai Mayor S Duraisamy and VP Kalairajan MLA visited hundreds of houses and distributed pamphlets explaining the irregularities of the previous DMK regime and its mismanagement of administration. The women who went along with the Minister were dressed in green clothes.
The pamphlets highlighted the achievements of the AIADMK government led by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, with facts and figures, while pointing out the irregularities of the DMK government charging that they had ruined Tamil Nadu.
The pamphlets listed the welfare schemes of the government headed by Jayalalalithaa which included 20 kg free rice, four gram gold and financial assistance for needy girls, distribution of mixie, grinder and fan free of cost to all family cardholders, distribution of cows and goats to poor families in the rural areas, free laptops to students, Vision 2023 for Tamil Nadu’s growth in all sectors, etc. The pamphlets also said Karunanidhi can’t complain about shortage of power since he had failed to take any step to end it.
