AIR launches musical show

CHENNAI: All India Radio (AIR) is all set to launch ‘Isai Saaral’ – a two-hour musical show featuring performances of artistes from the realm of Carnatic music on December 16. The programme will be held in the AIR premises. The artistes will perform every Friday from 5.30 pm, through the year. The first show will be a Nadaswaram performance by Deshur DSD Selvarathnam and his group. P Suseela, one of the popular playback singers, and vocalist Bala Murli Krishna will be attending the inaugural function.J Kamalanathan, Station Director, AIR, said the need for such shows was long over due, as 40 per cent of the radio time was dedicated to Carnatic music.
