New Delhi: For Arjun Kapoor it is a case of been there done that when it comes to parties and the budding actor says he now wants to focus on building his career in Bollywood. Kapoor, 27, has bagged three interesting movies after making a successful debut with 'Ishaqzaade'.
"I am a shy person. I have partied and roamed a lot before I became an actor. But now I feel the need to be little more focused and dedicated to this profession because there are millions of people who want to be where I am and if I take it for granted and ruin it, I will have only myself to blame," Arjun told PTI.
The actor, son of filmmaker Boney Kapoor, has signed three new projects-'Aurangzeb', 'Gunday' and '2 States'. He is currently shooting for 'Aurangzeb' in Delhi. The movie will see him in a double role and Arjun is happy to have taken up the challenge of playing the dual role early in his career.
"Double role is difficult for an actor to play and I am excited to take up the challenge and so far it has been great. I am still finding my way around because it is demanding. When you are playing one you have to remember the other. But it is interesting as it keeps you alert. There is a certain discipline required," he said.
A Yash Raj Film (YRF), 'Aurangzeb' is directed by debutante Atul Sabharwal and also stars Rishi Kapoor, Amrita Singh, Jackie Shroff and South superstar Prithviraj. "It is a special movie because I have known Rishi uncle, Jackie uncle, Amrita aunty all personally and to leave that behind and face the camera was a good experience. I had never imagined that I will work with such senior actors," Arjun said.
Another YRF movie which he is working on is 'Gunday' alongwith Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra. The film is being directed by Ali Abbas Zafar of 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' fame and it will go on floors next month. Arjun thinks his team up with Ranveer is already creating a buzz amongst the audience and he is looking forward to the shoot.
"Working with Ranveer will enhance the probability of more people coming in to watch our film as we have been equally appreciated for our acting abilities. The two of us are accepted by majority of the audience. 'Gunday' is kind of film that can't be made without me and Ranveer. There is no competition, we have equally edged out roles," he said.
'Ishaqzaade' was opposite Parineeti Chopra and 'Gunday' will see him pair up with her cousin sister Priyanka. Ask him what's with the Chopra connection, Arjun laughs and says, "Chopra as a surname is lucky for me whether it's the producer or co-star so I hope the good trend continues and I continue to be lucky."
Life is running at a chaotic speed for Arjun right now but he has no complaints as this is what he always wanted. "The opportunity to be an actor is overwhelming but there are days when you want to be yourself but you don't have that luxury. What I am still not used to is, opening the papers and seeing your face on it. Life is pacing by at a chaotic speed and I am just trying to catch up. A bit of privacy has also gone out of the window," he added.
Arjun started working at the age of 17 and has served as an assistant producer and director to films like 'No Entry', 'Wanted', 'Kal Ho Na Ho' and 'Salaam-e-ishq'. He also said that direction still remain his ultimate goal.
"Direction was one of the goals but then I enjoyed acting and was asked to experiment with myself. Direction still remains important in my life but right now I think I am equipped to handle acting better," Arjun said.
