New Delhi: Abhishek Bachchan's marathon seven-city promotional tour for Delhi-6 may have kept the security staff busy in managing his fans and led to some moviegoers missing their films but the actor exuded confidence in getting his name listed in the record books.
As the actor rushed from one city to another in his attempt to get the feedback of audiences in different cinema halls, his fans were there all the time.
"It is really exciting to get first hand response about your movie. The cinema halls were running packed wherever I went," the junior Bachchan told reporters.
"I will make the (Guinness Book) record, god willing," the 34-year-old actor said.
His target cities are Ghaziabad, Noida, Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Chandigarh and Mumbai. The actor reached a Noida cinema 10 minutes before schedule only to see a over 500-strong crowd gathering around
the hall, literally threatening to disrupt the event.
Though Bachchan had initially planned to interact with the audience,
he had to rush out within 10 minutes.
Many of the moviegoers were also caught in the crowd and missed their show as the tight security made their entry difficult.
The promotion idea came to Bachchan when he read about a German actor, who made the record for attending five public events in 12 hours.
The actor, who recently attended the New Delhi red carpet premiere of the film with his parents and wife Aishwarya Rai, will return to Mumbai on Sunday.
Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra of Rang De Basanti fame, Delhi-6 is about a back-to-roots story where Abhishek plays an NRI, who returns to Delhi only to fall in love with the city.
